The roots of faith Several years ago, a man was walking down the streets in a Gulf Coast town after a storm. He could see the palm trees and been uprooted and laying all around. Once tall and majestic, their root system could not withstand the force of the wind. As he walked, he came to an oak tree standing all alone. Its roots had gone down deep, and except for some leaves being blown off, it was virtually untouched. So it is with us. If we are to endure the stresses and strains of life, we have to send our roots down deep in faith. God wants us to come to him, just as we are, with our doubts and fears. God loves us and wants us to grow in faith toward Him.Worshipping with other Christians on Sunday, reading the Bible, and prayer, all help to keep our roots of faith strong. We invite you to worship with us at Caroleen UMC.

Caroleen UMC celebrating Souper Bowl Sunday!
Blessin's! God has blessed us in so many ways! Even a snow day is a blessing. It brings the opportunity for many things. Especially, it brings a chance to be quiet before the Lord. God is not going to yell to get our attention. Remember in 1 Kings 19, beginning with verse 11, God shows his power and speaks to Elijah in a still, small voice. This busy world is so noisy! That is what I like about snow. It brings a hush over nature and hopefully over us. The field beside the parsonage was hushed early this morning. The birds had not ventured out. The branches of the small trees growing there were etched with snow. Calm, quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. Only God can do that. Pause, on this day of rest, and listen. Let our Holy Father, the Almighty God, speak to your heart. Take time to read His Holy Word today, contained in the Bible. A good place to start in this Advent season, when we celebrate the coming of the Christ Child in the manger of Bethlehem, is the Gospel of Luke, Chapters 1 and 2. Let us pray: We are such busy people, Heavenly Father, always coming, always going. If we are honest, the business and the busyness of life keep us from hearing the emptiness within. Doubt, grief, hurt, wells up within our heart and we do our best to hold it back by keeping our minds otherwise occupied. Just as you have blanketed our natural world with snow, so blanket our hearts with peace. Cast out our sin, and enter in. For all who doubt this day, speak in your still, small voice, the reality of your existence. Hold us all in your everlasting love. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Sunday School and Church will be canceled tomorrow due to weather see you all next week
Come join us this Christmas season!
There is an imaginative story told of a day when the sun did not rise. Six o'clock came and there was no sign of dawn. At seven o'clock, there was still no ray of light. At noon it was as dark as midnight. No birds sang and only the hoot of an owl broke the silence. Then came the long black hours of the afternoon. Finally evening arrived but no one slept that night. Some wept, some wrung their hands in anguish. Every church was thronged with people on their knees. Thus they remained all night through. After that long night of terror and agony, millions of eager, tear-streaked faces were turned toward the east. When the sky began to grow red and the sun rose, there was a loud shout of joy. Millions of lips said, "Bless the Lord, O my soul!" because the sun had risen after one day of darkness. The very consistency of God's blessings sometimes seems to dull our gratitude. Let us remember to be constantly thankful to Almighty God.
A big thanks to everyone who made our fall festival a success yesterday!
If you missed Sunday School...... The captain of the Titanic refused to believe that the ship was in trouble until the water was ankle deep in the mail room. Only then was it evident that the hull was pierced and the unsinkable ship was going to sink. Ships that could have arrived before the great ocean liner went down were not summoned until it was too late. Habakkuk 2:4 says Look at the proud! Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous live by their faith. Having faith is what makes us righteous! Believing on the Lord Jesus Christ and seeking to live according to God's Word. God wants a relationship with you. He wants you to know that you are loved and precious to him. Imagine, God Almighty loving you so much that he continually reaches out to you. Is your ship in trouble? Then call upon the name of the Lord! Psalm 50:15 Psalm 34:17 Jeremiah 33:3 Romans 10:13
Join us tomorrow for Homecoming!!
